“Goals in writing are dreams with deadlines.” Brian Tracy

According to Dictionary.com, the definition of goals is, “The result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.”  The definition states goals are achieved
through effort and action.

Okay, so we all know that goals are important, but it can be quite intimidating to come up and achieve our goals.  Here are some exercises that may/can help
with setting goals.

  • Close your eyes and visualize where you see yourself in 10 years.  What does that look like?  Write it down on a piece of paper.  (This is only for you to see so be honest with yourself.)
  • What are you doing today to reach/obtain what you have visualized?  (Write it down.)
  • What can you do in the next 6 months to reach that 10-year goal?  (Write it down.)
  • What can you do in the next year to reach that goal? (Write it down.)
  • What can you do in the next 5 years to reach that goal? (Write it down.)
  • Finally, what can you do in the next 10 years to reach that goal?  (Write it down.)

Now look at your paper. You have just written out your goals for the next 10 years.  There are short-term goals, as well as,long-term goals.  Those things might look a little scary when you see the big picture.
Those goals may even seem unattainable. However, when you look at them in smaller achievements, they are not quite as scary.  Reaching your goals take action.  To reach your goal you need something to aim for.  You can do it! Start reaching!
